Isaiah 49:26 “Then all mankind will know
that I, the Lord, am your Savior,
your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”
Antisemitic people don’t really understand what they’re getting themselves in for! This chapter is definitely a promise to the Jewish nation as a whole, and it’s remarkable. All the plots and plans against them will backfire, and this last part of the chapter says why. Actually, much of this has already been fulfilled, but people don’t seem to understand what they are seeing. God has indeed rescued Israel, and He will continue to do so, not simply to demonstrate His might, as this passage says, but to show the Jewish people that His promises to Abraham are fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth. Recently I’ve been getting a lot of ads for One for Israel, and I’m glad. They are an excellent Messianic organization, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ Jew to Jew, with increasing effectiveness. That too is a sign of the end of the age! Most people are totally distracted by the immediate world around them, when they actually need a Biblical perspective to know what is actually going on. It’s much easier to have peace when you understand that nothing is out of God’s control, and He’s bringing everything to an absolutely glorious climax. The US election coming up in a few days is hardly inconsequential, but it’s by no means the final answer on anything. We need to open our eyes to see that God is not just the Savior and Redeemer of Israel, He is that for everyone who will repent and believe, and He has the right answer for every question, if we will pay attention and listen to Him.
I have had my times of being upset by current events, but I’m learning. Right now we’re experiencing a typhoon fizzling out, becoming a “nothing burger” as the saying goes, but there’s another, much stronger typhoon that is forming and looks to follow much the same path. No big deal! Whether the storms are meteorological, social, or political, God’s still in control. I am not to let myself get tied in knots over anything, but rather rest, relax, and rejoice in my Lord, just as He has told me to do. I’m in a bit of a personal turmoil, with recently recognized heart issues and a major heart check this week, coinciding with clear indications that God is making major changes to my ministry, but panic would be the least logical response! I am to look forward to what God is doing, assured that His plans are good, and focusing on following them as closely as possible, for His glory.
Father, thank You for this reminder. I really had no idea what You would say to me when I first read today’s passage! Thank You that my hope has a rock-solid foundation, and I indeed have no reason to be anxious about anything at all. I do pray for Your desired outcomes for the election, my physical exam, and everything else, so that Your name may be acknowledged as holy and Your rule and reign established as Your will is done, for Your glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!
